You can take the ferry from 05:30 AM to 3:50 PM. These ferries depart from Cat Ba wharf in the city center. You will have no problem walking from the hotel to here.
The journey takes about 1.5 hours, depending on which ferry you take. Ticket prices start at US$6.50 (160,000 VND).
The ferry stops at Pha Binh Port, also known as Ben Binh. From here to Hai Phong Railway Station is about 2 km.

First of all, there is no direct ferry from Cat Ba to Dinh Vu Port. If you choose to go to Dinh Vu Pier in Hai Phong, your itinerary will be as follows:
- Step 1: Take a 45-minute bus from Cat Ba town to Cai Vieng port.
- Step 2: Take a 20-minute ferry ride to Got Harbor.
- Step 3: Transfer to a 30-minute bus ride to Ninh Tiep Wharf.
- Step 4: Take a 45-minute ferry ride to Dinh Vu Port.
- Step 5: Take a taxi for 30 minutes to Hai Phong station.
Seems complicated, doesn’t it? Because it is. That’s why we strongly recommend you take the ferry directly from Cat Ba to Pha Binh Port.
From Pha Binh Port, you need to take a taxi to Hai Phong station.
Taxis start at $2.10 (50,000 VND) and the journey only takes about 10 minutes.
If you don’t have a lot of luggage, you can also consider walking for about 20 minutes to get to the train station.
Vietnam Railways operates at least four departures daily from Hai Phong to Hanoi.
Please note that the last bus departs at 18:40. Even if you take the last ferry from Cat Ba, you should still have plenty of time to catch it, just make sure not to stop unnecessarily.
Train fares start from 3.6 USD (85,000 VND) and travel time is about 2.5 hours. Trains depart from Hai Phong Station in central Hai Phong.
